I came to Dr Borquez with acute TMJ and lockjaw (only two fingers opening). Dr Borquez was able to expedite an MRI, gave me immediate exercises, cream and medicine to relieve pain and in a follow up appointment was able to perform a procedure to unlock my jaw, I was literally in tears from the relief! In conjunction with these measures and with his referral to Newbury PT (Aliesha is a lifesaver) I was able to keep my jaw unlocked while working on improving my bite back to its natural position. Now two months later I have a comfortable night guard to help with clenching at night, an almost back to normal bite, and normal opening. Huge thank you to Dr Borquez and team. I did go to another TMJ specialist in the area before seeing Dr Borquez who actually suggested a complete opposite treatment plan and a TMJ splint to push my jaw forward, this was very painful and was not the right approach. My issues were caused by bite ramps while doing Invisalign which change your bite and are not recommended for those prone to teeth clenching (if only I knew this!)

Dr Borquez is such a wonderful doctor.  I went to him for a 2nd opinion on my TMJ and unlike the first dr - he solved 95% of my unbearable pain in 2 visits.  He is so thorough and caring with his patients.  He takes his time and answers as many questions as necessary.  I can't thank Dr Borquez and his team enough - they are the best. Dr. Borquez, Donna and his entire staff are amazing. I was referred by my dentist in Ventura for my TMJ pain that I have been experiencing for about a decade. Being new to the area and finding a new dentist getting this referral to Dr. Borquez has changed my life. Waking up daily with TMJ pain is difficult to live with especially when it triggers headaches and migraines. Dr. Borquez is extremely knowledgeable about TMJ and the muscles in your face. He developed a plan. I worked with him for several months using heat, exercises, mouth guard, and injections and now am finally essentially pain free. . My quality of life has improved greatly. Dr. Borquez was excellent in treating my TMJ disorder. I had been in constant pain for over 7 months. He diagnosed my condition and outlined a course of home treatment. In one week the constant pain was eliminated and now I have only minor discomfort under certain conditions; I anticipate I will soon be totally pain free. His staff is very courteous. Dr Borquez is absolutely amazing. He is VERY compassionate, ethical and knows what he is doing. I had horrible TMJ related problems and he helped me TREMENDOUSLY. Dr Borquez really cared and followed up with me to make sure I was getting better in between visits. I was suffering from extremely bad headaches right before going on vacation, Dr Borquez saw me urgently and went above and beyond to ease my pain and Help me get better. If you want a miracle doctor to treat your TMJ problem, look no further. My husband had TMJ problem with depleted cartilage, plus jaw lock-up problem, and always in pain during winter months. I wanted to share my experiences with Dr. Borquez coming from a professional’s perspective.  As a dental specialist myself, I have worked with Dr. Borquez in a professional capacity for over twenty-three years. During this time we consulted on the treatment of hundreds of patients.  First, and I think the most important thing, is that Dr. Borquez sincerely has his patient’s best interest at heart - always.  During those twenty-three years there was never a comment to the contrary.  Second, he is a superb clinician and has amazing technical skills producing beautiful dentistry that his patients adored.  With respect to his work in oral facial pain, he has taken advanced training and is a certificated Specialist in Oral Facial Pain and a Diplomat of the American Academy of Oral Facial Pain.  Beyond that he is on the faculty of USC’s School of Dentistry Department of Oral Facial Pain and so is connected to a broader network of resources that help in treating patients with more complex needs. The patient comments relayed back to me have always been positive and he is well-respected by his professional colleagues.  As a fellow clinician I appreciate his conservative approach to patient care and his concerns with their costs.
